India has achieved a historic milestone in green transportation with the development of its first indigenous hydrogen train. The train is fully ready for launch and is designed to operate with zero emissions, marking a major step towards sustainable railway transport.
The train has been approved for operations on the Jind Sonipat section under Northern Railways. It will run at a maximum speed of 75 kmph and consists of 10 coaches powered by a 1200 kW engine.
Powered by hydrogen fuel cell technology, the train emits only water vapour, ensuring no environmental pollution. With this innovation, India joins an elite group of countries using hydrogen based clean railway systems.
