As global competition in Artificial Intelligence intensifies, Meta Platforms has accelerated its AI-focused transformation through a major organizational restructuring. Earlier this year, the company reduced its workforce by nearly 8,000 employees, representing around 10 percent of its global staff, while reassigning approximately 7,000 employees to AI-related projects and advanced technology divisions. The move is part of Meta’s broader strategy to strengthen its position in the rapidly evolving AI landscape.
However, Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg reportedly acknowledged that the transition process was not entirely smooth. According to reports, Zuckerberg admitted in an internal communication that certain mistakes occurred during the AI-driven restructuring. While assuring employees that no further layoffs are planned this year, he emphasized that technological transformation inevitably brings challenges. Meta is also exploring the use of AI agents to handle tasks previously performed by employees, aiming to improve efficiency and reduce operational costs. Industry analysts believe these changes could significantly reshape the future of jobs in the technology sector.
