

Union Minister of State for Railways Ravneet Singh Bittu resigned from his ministerial post on Friday. President Droupadi Murmu accepted his resignation. According to reports, the BJP leader from Punjab stepped down to focus on the upcoming Punjab Assembly elections scheduled for 2027 and is expected to return to active state politics.
Bittu has been a member of the Union Council of Ministers since 2024. His Rajya Sabha term ended in June this year. The grandson of former Punjab Chief Minister Beant Singh, Bittu joined the BJP after resigning from the Congress ahead of the 2024 Lok Sabha elections. Although he lost the parliamentary election, he later entered the Rajya Sabha from Rajasthan after being nominated to the seat vacated by Congress leader K.C. Venugopal.
