For employees working evening shifts in the United States, a Google Meet call often marks the end of the workday. However, for 80 Indian employees working at a bank in the US, one such meeting turned into a heartbreaking experience. In a matter of just five minutes, all 80 employees were reportedly laid off together. The employees, who worked in the customer service department, were assigned to the 6:30 PM shift.
On that particular day, they were instructed by the management to work from home and were told that a Google Meet would be held at 9:30 PM.Assuming it was a routine meeting, the employees joined the call. However, they were shocked when the management announced that all 80 of them were being terminated. The company reportedly cited the Indian team’s performance as the reason for the mass layoffs, stating that it had not met the expected standards.
