Government Issues GO Increasing Age Limit in Police Recruitment

The Telangana government has announced a major relief for aspirants preparing for constable recruitment. The upper age limit for candidates applying for constable posts has been increased by another three years. With the latest three-year relaxation added to the seven-year relaxation already granted, candidates will now get a total age relaxation of 10 years. As a result, the upper age limit for constable posts has been raised to 32 years. The decision is expected to benefit candidates who were previously unable to apply for police jobs due to the age criterion.

Government Chief Secretary Sanjay Jaju issued orders implementing the revised age limit in accordance with the rules of the Telangana State Level Police Recruitment Board. The relaxation will apply to constable recruitment in the Police, Fire, Prisons and SPF departments. However, the relaxation will not apply to PC Driver posts in the Police Department. Four notifications for various departments were issued on July 29, while the Police Recruitment Board had already extended the application deadline. Candidates can now submit their applications until the 16th of this month.
