Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu announced that Visakhapatnam is set to emerge as a global technology hub with the launch of the Google Cloud India AI Hub. Speaking at the foundation ceremony in Bhimili constituency alongside Union Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw and Google Cloud Global Infrastructure Vice President Bikash Koley, he said the region is transitioning from a history of migration and unemployment to becoming a destination for talent. With an investment of $15 billion, the project is expected to generate large-scale direct and indirect employment and position Andhra Pradesh as a key AI data gateway for India.
The Chief Minister highlighted that the data center, expected to be operational by September 2028, will be among Asia’s largest and will significantly boost digital infrastructure, global connectivity, and industrial growth. He emphasized that Visakhapatnam offers lower operational costs compared to other cities, making it attractive for global investments. The project is also expected to strengthen India’s digital economy, enhance AI-driven services across sectors, and transform the city into a future-ready AI metropolis.
