IRCTC Ticket Bookings Set New Record

Demand for train travel has surged during the Vinayaka festival season, with railway ticket bookings setting a new record. On the 7th of this month, 20,06,353 tickets were booked in a single day, marking the first time that IRCTC crossed the 20-lakh daily booking mark. Bookings remained strong on the 8th, with 19,50,699 tickets booked.

The highest single-day bookings during last year’s festive season stood at 18,40,203 tickets. This year’s figure is around 6% higher than that record. IRCTC said nearly 89% of reserved tickets are currently booked online. To handle the growing demand, new servers have been added, nearly doubling the capacity for online ticket bookings.
