Ganesh Immersion Row: Bhagyanagar Ganesh Utsav Samithi Protests at Tank Bund

The Ganesh immersion issue at Tank Bund in Hyderabad has intensified, with the Bhagyanagar Ganesh Utsav Samithi staging a protest against restrictions on idol immersion at the location. The Samithi has opposed the authorities’ decision and maintained that Tank Bund is a traditional immersion point. The dispute comes amid arrangements by civic and police authorities based on court directions, with alternative immersion facilities being prepared around Hussain Sagar.

During the protest, Samithi representatives reportedly removed barricades installed around Tank Bund, following which a confrontation broke out between them and the police. The ensuing scuffle reportedly resulted in some police personnel falling down. The protesters subsequently staged a sit-in near Tank Bund. The authorities have been urging organisers to follow the prescribed immersion arrangements, while the Samithi continues to oppose restrictions on immersion at Tank Bund.
