El Niño Alert Issued for Several Villages in Telangana!

The Telangana government has identified 892 villages as highly vulnerable due to the impact of El Niño and possible drought conditions. Officials reported rainfall deficiency in 23 districts, with 39 mandals facing severe drought. The government warned that the cultivated area during the Kharif season may decline significantly, with paddy cultivation likely to reduce by more than half.

To address the situation, the government has prepared an action plan for 32 lakh acres by promoting alternative crops. Special monitoring will be carried out at the village level, while farmers will be encouraged to shift to suitable crops. The government is also considering special incentives for selected crops, and seeds for alternative cultivation will be distributed through Rythu Vedikas.
