Chandrababu Naidu Emphasises Green Growth

Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu attended the inauguration of ‘The Earth Centre – Vista Spaces’ in Bengaluru and inaugurated the building along with Karnataka Chief Minister D.K. Shivakumar. Unlike conventional office buildings, The Earth Centre integrates nature, technology and the workplace environment. The project incorporates sustainability-focused features and materials, including recycled elements and terracotta, while emphasising water conservation and energy efficiency.

Speaking at the event, Chandrababu Naidu stressed the need to move away from concrete-heavy urban development towards environmentally responsible construction. He called for buildings that use resources intelligently rather than consuming them excessively. He said climate change is no longer a future challenge but an issue already confronting society. He urged wider adoption of net zero practices in construction, greater use of solar power, water conservation, waste composting and reuse.

Naidu said development should continue without damaging the environment. He observed that cities had expanded for decades on the basis of grey infrastructure and argued that the focus should now shift towards green growth, circular growth and regenerative growth. He said every rooftop could potentially become a power-generating facility, every drop of water could be reused and waste streams could be converted into resources. Protecting water and soil, he said, also contributes to wealth creation.

Naidu said India has set a national target of achieving 500 GW of green energy generation capacity by 2030 and stated that Andhra Pradesh is seeking to play a significant role in this transition. He said the state is planning around 165 GW of renewable-energy capacity and is developing Amaravati as an environmentally friendly city. Recalling his role in developing Cyberabad when Andhra Pradesh was undivided, he said he now has an opportunity to build another new city.
