Centre Strengthens Heritage Conservation Efforts in Telangana

The Central Government has stated that it is taking continuous measures to preserve India's historical heritage while integrating modern technology into the education system. Responding to questions raised by Khammam MP Ramasahayam Raghuram Reddy in the Lok Sabha, Union Minister for Culture and Tourism Gajendra Singh Shekhawat and Minister of State for Education Jayant Chaudhary outlined the government's initiatives in heritage conservation and digital education.

The Centre informed that India has 3,688 centrally protected monuments and archaeological sites under the Archaeological Survey of India (ASI). For Telangana's Hyderabad Circle, funds have been allocated consistently over the past five years, with allocations rising from ₹7 crore in 2021–22 to ₹15.50 crore in 2022–23, while ₹14.93 crore has been earmarked for 2025–26. The government also highlighted the Adopt a Heritage 2.0 initiative aimed at improving visitor facilities at heritage sites.
