Three astronauts aboard the International Space Station (ISS), located approximately 400 kilometres above Earth, have exercised their voting rights from space. Among them was Indian-origin astronaut Anil Menon, who cast his vote in the Texas elections through an electronic ballot while living and working in a microgravity environment. Despite being away from Earth, the astronauts took part in the democratic process.
The astronauts reportedly used a laptop aboard the space station to cast their votes digitally. With the help of NASA's communication system, the ballots were securely transmitted to Earth and delivered to the concerned election officials. Anil Menon shared a video showing the voting process online, which quickly went viral. The unusual instance of astronauts casting their votes from space has drawn widespread attention.
