Assam Flood Crisis Persists

The flood situation in Assam continues to remain serious despite a marginal improvement in some areas, with nearly 6.55 lakh people still affected across six districts. Charaideo, Dibrugarh, Golaghat, Jorhat, Nagaon and Sivasagar are among the affected districts, where floodwaters continue to disrupt normal life. According to the latest reports, the death toll has climbed to 66, highlighting the severity of the ongoing monsoon disaster.

Authorities have established 274 relief camps and distribution centres to provide shelter, food and other essential supplies to flood-affected residents. Rescue and relief operations are continuing as authorities monitor water levels and conditions in vulnerable areas. The prolonged flooding has affected homes, roads, agricultural land and livelihoods in several parts of the state, while thousands of families continue to depend on government assistance.
