25 Tonnes of Adulterated Spices Seized in Hyderabad

H-FAST officials conducted extensive inspections at 13 spice trading establishments across Hyderabad and seized 25.3 tonnes of adulterated spices along with 89.15 tonnes of raw materials, Cyberabad Police Commissioner C.V. Anand said. The enforcement drive also led to the registration of three criminal cases, with three accused being arrested for their alleged involvement in the adulteration racket.

According to officials, laboratory findings and preliminary investigations revealed the use of synthetic dyes, cloth dyes, talcum powder, industrial colours, and rice bran oil in the adulterated spice products. Authorities warned that the consumption of such contaminated food products could pose serious health risks and urged consumers to purchase spices only from trusted and certified manufacturers. The investigation into the network is continuing.
