Satellite internet services company Starlink, owned by billionaire Elon Musk, is currently awaiting final regulatory approvals to begin commercial operations in India. The company stated that it is actively engaged in discussions with the Government of India and has received encouraging responses supporting the country’s connectivity goals. Starlink, which has already secured a license to provide satellite broadband services, has set up necessary ground infrastructure in compliance with regulatory and enforcement requirements. It is now awaiting final clearance, including spectrum allocation, to officially launch its services.
Addressing recent speculation, Starlink clarified that reports suggesting cancellation of its approvals are inaccurate. Lauren Dreyer, Vice President of Business Operations at Starlink, emphasized that the company is working transparently and responsibly with Indian authorities to meet all regulatory conditions. She dismissed rumors linking delays to concerns over the use of Starlink terminals during the Iran conflict, stating that such claims are misleading and unfounded.
