India Approves First Dengue Vaccine

India's drug regulator DCGI has approved the marketing of Qdenga, the country's first approved dengue vaccine, Takeda Biopharma India announced. The vaccine can be administered to individuals aged 4 to 60 years and is expected to strengthen India's efforts to prevent dengue infections.

Takeda stated that Qdenga has already been approved in 43 countries since its launch in 2022, with over 32 million doses supplied worldwide. The approval in India is based on the company's global clinical development programme. Dengue, a mosquito-borne viral disease, is prevalent in 125 countries, and India accounts for nearly one-third of the global dengue burden.
