Hyderabad is likely to emerge as the hub for another major industrial investment. State owned Bharat Heavy Electricals Limited (BHEL) has signed a strategic partnership agreement with Thyssenkrupp Nucera India, the Indian arm of Germany based green hydrogen technology company Thyssenkrupp Nucera. The partnership aims to manufacture alkaline water electrolyzer systems for green hydrogen projects within India.
The proposed manufacturing facility, expected to be set up in Hyderabad, could attract investments of nearly ₹10,000 crore in phases. Electrolyzers play a crucial role in producing green hydrogen by separating hydrogen from water. BHEL said the collaboration is intended to gradually localize the production of electrolyzer systems required for India's growing green hydrogen sector.
Earlier this year, Thyssenkrupp Nucera India also partnered with Hyderabad based Juno Joule Green Energy to provide Front End Engineering and Design (FEED) services for a 260 MW green hydrogen plant. Meanwhile, Juno Joule is developing a compressed biogas project in Narmetta, Siddipet district, with an investment of ₹700 crore. The first phase is expected to begin production by May next year.
