Tata Consultancy Services CEO K. Krithivasan announced that the company will hire 25,000 freshers in the financial year 2026–27, with the number likely to increase based on business demand. In 2025–26, TCS recruited 44,000 freshers, emerging as one of the largest private-sector employers. He noted that it usually takes around nine months to train a fresher to become fully productive, while experienced hires from other companies can contribute immediately.
He added that hiring strategies vary depending on business needs, and the company has consistently recruited at least 40,000 freshers annually over the past three years. Addressing layoffs, he said around 12,000 employees were let go in 2025–26, most of them from senior positions. He assured that employees with strong performance need not worry about their careers and rejected claims that artificial intelligence was responsible for the job cuts.
