Dr. Reddy’s Strengthens HIV Drug Portfolio

Dr. Reddy’s Laboratories is strengthening its HIV drug portfolio. As part of this effort, the company has entered into an agreement with global pharmaceutical company Gilead Sciences to manufacture lenacapavir, a drug designed to prevent HIV infection with once-yearly use. The drug, developed by Gilead, is currently undergoing clinical trials in humans.

Under the agreement, Dr. Reddy’s will manufacture and market lenacapavir on a non-exclusive basis without paying royalties to Gilead. The drug is expected to be supplied to more than 120 low- and lower-middle-income countries. Dr. Reddy’s already manufactures and markets a twice-yearly version of lenacapavir for HIV prevention. The new agreement could further expand access to HIV prevention medicines in eligible countries.
