Cognizant, despite being headquartered in the United States, continues to maintain a significant workforce in India and is now focusing on expanding its capabilities in artificial intelligence. As part of this strategy, the company announced the acquisition of Astraea, which operates in the artificial intelligence infrastructure and data center services sector. However, the financial details of the deal have not been disclosed. According to a Reuters report, the transaction value is estimated to be around $600 million (approximately ₹5,690 crore).
For the quarter ended March, Cognizant reported a consolidated net profit of $662 million. This marks a slight decline compared to $663 million recorded in the same period last year. However, the company’s revenue grew by 5.8% year-on-year to $5.4 billion. In February this year, the company had announced plans to hire around 25,000 freshers. During the latest quarter, its total workforce increased by 6,000, bringing the global headcount to 357,600 employees.
