Air India is set to introduce artificial intelligence tools to make passenger services faster and more efficient. The airline has partnered with Salesforce’s Agentforce AI platform to streamline services such as refunds and ticket name corrections. Under the new system, refund processing time is expected to come down from 14 days to just four hours, while corrections to incorrectly entered passenger names on tickets could be completed within 30 minutes instead of the earlier three days. The AI system will also be capable of identifying multiple issues raised in a single email and responding to them in one consolidated reply.
Meanwhile, Air India is also facing scrutiny from the authorities over a security-related incident at Delhi airport. The Union Home Ministry has reportedly sought an explanation from senior Air India officials after three Italian nationals allegedly left the country from Delhi airport on September 4 without undergoing immigration checks. The airline's officials have been asked to attend a meeting at Kartavya Bhavan and explain the circumstances. The Ministry of Civil Aviation has also reportedly issued a show-cause notice to the airline. Separately, a board meeting was held in Mumbai under Tata Sons chairman N. Chandrasekaran, where issues including the compensation of the incoming managing director and CEO were reportedly discussed.
