OpenAI has announced a major upgrade to ChatGPT’s memory capabilities, introducing a redesigned architecture called “Dreaming.” The new system is designed to help ChatGPT better remember user preferences, ongoing projects, and important details from previous conversations. By organizing and refreshing stored information in the background, the feature aims to provide more relevant and personalized responses without requiring users to repeat the same information frequently.
The upgraded memory system also introduces a dedicated memory summary page, allowing users to review, edit, or remove saved information. According to OpenAI, the new architecture significantly improves factual recall, preference adherence, and time-sensitive memory performance. The feature is currently rolling out to Plus and Pro users in the United States, with broader availability expected in additional regions and subscription plans in the coming weeks.
