OpenAI Expands ChatGPT Health Across the US

OpenAI has expanded ChatGPT Health to eligible logged-in Free, Go, Plus and Pro users aged 18 and above in the United States, following an early-access phase that began after its January unveiling. The dedicated health experience is being rolled out on web and iOS, while it is not currently supported in Codex. Users can ask health-related questions without connecting external services, but those seeking more personalised and contextual responses can choose to securely connect Apple Health and supported medical records. The feature can bring together information such as lab results, medications, recent health data, sleep and activity, helping users understand trends, prepare for medical appointments and ask more informed questions.

OpenAI says users remain in control of what information they connect and when ChatGPT can access it. Connected medical records and Apple Health information, along with conversations that use that data, are not used to train OpenAI’s foundation models or target advertising. The company says more than 300 million people use ChatGPT for health-related questions each week. OpenAI is also continuing to improve its models for health conversations, with GPT-5.6 Sol showing stronger performance on complex health questions. However, ChatGPT Health is intended to support users in understanding and navigating health information and is not designed to replace professional medical care, diagnosis or treatment.
