Anthropic has expanded Claude Voice Mode by introducing support for its Opus and Sonnet AI models, allowing users to choose between faster responses or more advanced reasoning during voice conversations. Previously limited to the Haiku model, the updated Voice Mode can now handle longer discussions, brainstorming sessions, presentation reviews, and communication assistance. The beta feature is available on Android, iOS, desktop, and the web across all subscription plans, with certain capabilities varying by plan.
The update also introduces integration with Gmail, Google Calendar, Google Docs, Slack, and web search, enabling users to retrieve emails, review schedules, access documents, and perform searches without leaving a voice conversation. Anthropic has retained built-in safety measures by offering only preset voices to prevent impersonation. Voice conversations are automatically saved as text transcripts, while users can switch seamlessly between voice and text within the same chat.
