The popular AI chatbot, ChatGPT, has faced a major setback as around 2.5 million users have reportedly boycotted it. The reason behind this mass boycott is a recent agreement between ChatGPT’s parent company, OpenAI and the U.S. Department of Defense (Pentagon).
According to the deal, OpenAI’s models will be used within the Pentagon. Many users, unhappy with this decision, have started deleting the ChatGPT app from their phones. A report by TechCrunch revealed that the number of ChatGPT app uninstalls in the U.S. is rising day by day.
Reacting to the growing criticism, OpenAI CEO Sam Altman stated, “This is a complex issue that requires clear communication. We are sincerely working to address the situation”. Reports also suggest that OpenAI is considering making changes to the agreement with the Pentagon.
