The rapid expansion of artificial intelligence is bringing significant changes to the global employment landscape, particularly for people entering the workforce. According to the Goldman Sachs Research study cited in the report, companies have become more cautious about hiring for entry-level roles involving tasks that can be automated. The study indicates that employment in industries with greater exposure to automation began declining from the second half of 2022, with the trend becoming more visible in countries such as the United States, Germany and Australia.
Experienced employees may have more opportunities to adapt by learning AI-related skills and moving into new responsibilities, while fresh graduates face a different challenge at the start of their careers. Routine tasks such as data management, basic customer support and simple content creation can increasingly be handled by AI tools. Call-centre employment has also come under pressure, with the cited research pointing to declines in several developed economies. AI-powered chatbots and voice agents can now handle many routine customer interactions, leaving more complex issues for human employees. The changing job market is therefore increasing the importance of technical skills and practical AI knowledge alongside formal education.
