India's Test series against Afghanistan is set to begin tomorrow, followed by a three match ODI series. Reports suggest that Virat Kohli may miss the ODI series due to an injury. If Kohli is unavailable, the selectors are likely to consider Ruturaj Gaikwad as his replacement, according to several media reports.
Although players such as Sanju Samson and Sai Sudharsan were reportedly discussed, head coach Gautam Gambhir is believed to favor Gaikwad. The 28 year old has played 9 ODIs for India and scored 228 runs. He also registered a century against South Africa recently. Meanwhile, reports indicate that Rohit Sharma's availability for the ODI series is also uncertain. If Rohit misses out, either Sai Sudharsan or Sanju Samson could get an opportunity.
