Double Medal Glory for India at the Asian Games

India continued its medal winning run at the 2026 Asian Games in Aichi Nagoya, Japan, with Seema Kumari clinching bronze in the women’s 10,000m final. Seema clocked 32:50.05 to finish third. Bahrain’s Winfred Yavi won gold in 32:39.18, while Japan’s Nozomi Tanaka secured silver with a time of 32:41.54. Seema’s bronze ended India’s 16-year wait for a medal in the women’s 10,000m event.

India also secured silver in the mixed 4x400m relay. The quartet of Manu TS, M.R. Poovamma, Vishal Thennarasu and Vithya Ramraj finished the race in 3:14.46. Vithya produced a strong final leg to help India move into second place. Bahrain won gold in a Games-record 3:12.87. With these athletics medals and other medals won on the day, India’s overall tally reached 17.
