Asian Games 2026: Medals in Athletics, Rowing and Wushu for India

India experienced a mixed day at the Asian Games on Thursday, with strong performances in athletics, kabaddi, hockey and squash, while shooting and some other disciplines failed to meet expectations. Athletics opened its medal account with silver in the mixed 4x400m relay, where the Indian quartet of MR Poovamma, Vishal TK, Vithya Ramraj and TS Manu clocked 3:14.46. Seema Kumari added bronze in the women’s 10,000m with a time of 32:50.05. India’s men’s hockey team registered an emphatic 8-2 win over South Korea, with Dilpreet Singh scoring a hat-trick. Both Indian kabaddi teams advanced to the semifinals, remaining unbeaten in the group stage. In squash, Anahat Singh, Tanvi Khanna, Abhay Singh and Veer Chotrani progressed to the quarterfinals, while the mixed doubles pair of Joshna Chinappa and Velavan Senthilkumar also advanced. India’s table tennis players moved into the pre-quarterfinals, while fencing ended without a medal. Shooting continued to produce mixed results, although India had already added a skeet bronze during the day.
