Telangana Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy has announced that a Cabinet subcommittee will conduct a detailed study on the proposal to include the Mudiraj community in the BC-A category. Speaking at the government-organised 174th birth anniversary celebrations of Panduga Sayanna Mudiraj at Ravindra Bharathi in Hyderabad, the Chief Minister said the decision would be based on caste survey data and examined carefully to avoid legal complications. The subcommittee will consult legal experts and officials before the matter is discussed by the Cabinet. Revanth Reddy also asked Minister Ponnam Prabhakar to engage with the Gangaputra community to address concerns about the proposed classification. He further announced that statues of Panduga Sayanna and Doddi Komuraiah would be installed in the Tank Bund area.
The Chief Minister said the caste survey would help the government promote social justice and ensure fair opportunities in education, employment and livelihood. He recalled the resolution of the long-pending Scheduled Caste sub-categorisation issue and said the government would address other complex issues while safeguarding the interests of affected communities. Revanth Reddy also highlighted welfare initiatives, including fine-rice distribution, free domestic electricity, enhanced Rajiv Aarogyasri coverage, Rythu Bharosa, free bus travel for women, farm loan waivers and Indiramma housing. He stressed the importance of recognising the contributions of social reformers and leaders such as Panduga Sayanna, Doddi Komuraiah and other Bahujan warriors in the state’s history.
