The Telangana Assembly witnessed a heated exchange between Irrigation Minister N Uttam Kumar Reddy and BJP Legislature Party leader Alleti Maheshwar Reddy over the Kaleshwaram project and the National Dam Safety Authority (NDSA) report. Maheshwar Reddy questioned the government over the delay in acting on the NDSA report and sought clarity on the steps being taken for the restoration of the Kaleshwaram barrages. He also urged the government to take immediate decisions on the project and water utilisation.
Responding to the allegations, Uttam Kumar Reddy said the government was proceeding in accordance with the NDSA’s recommendations and questioned whether Maheshwar Reddy had fully examined the report. The minister further challenged the BJP floor leader to prove his claim regarding the NDSA report, saying he would resign if the allegation was established. Maheshwar Reddy accepted the challenge and said he was ready for a discussion on the issue. The exchange brought the Kaleshwaram restoration and NDSA recommendations into sharp focus during the Assembly debate.
