ED Takes Former Minister Karumuri Nageswara Rao Into Custody

The Enforcement Directorate has taken former Andhra Pradesh minister and YSRCP leader Karumuri Venkata Nageswara Rao into custody in connection with its investigation into the alleged APSBCL liquor transportation tender case. Karumuri was earlier arrested by the ED under the Prevention of Money Laundering Act and was subsequently lodged in Chanchalguda Jail. The agency’s investigation concerns alleged irregularities in liquor transportation contracts and the movement of suspected proceeds linked to the case.

The development comes after Karumuri was recently taken from Chanchalguda Jail to Vijayawada under a production warrant in connection with the state investigation. The ACB Court later extended his judicial remand until September 25. The ED has separately been examining the financial trail and alleged tender irregularities associated with the APSBCL liquor transportation contracts. The allegations remain subject to investigation and legal proceedings.
