

Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu visited and consoled the families of those who lost their lives in the firecracker factory explosion at Vetlapalem in Samarlakota mandal of Kakinada district. He met the bereaved families at the Samarlakota Government Hospital and expressed deep sorrow over the tragic incident, assuring them that the government would stand by them during this difficult time.
The massive explosion occurred on Saturday at a firecracker manufacturing unit in Vetlapalem. The death toll has continued to rise, with the latest reports confirming 23 fatalities. At the time of the incident, around 30 workers were reportedly present at the facility. The intensity of the blast left many seriously injured. The injured were immediately shifted to nearby hospitals, with several admitted to the Kakinada Government General Hospital (GGH) for treatment. Tragically, two more victims succumbed to their injuries while undergoing treatment, pushing the total death toll to 23. Doctors have stated that the condition of some of the injured remains critical.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi expressed deep anguish over the loss of lives in the accidental explosion at the factory in Kakinada district. Conveying his heartfelt condolences to the families of the deceased, he also prayed for the speedy recovery of the injured. The Prime Minister announced an ex-gratia of ₹2 lakh from the Prime Minister’s National Relief Fund (PMNRF) to the families of those who died and ₹50,000 to those injured in the incident.
