US President Donald Trump might face a surprising setback as reports emerge that the World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) is considering a proposal to bar him from major sporting events, including the FIFA World Cup and the 2028 Los Angeles Olympics.
The tension stems from a long-standing dispute where the US government has reportedly not paid its annual dues to WADA for the past three years, totaling approximately $7.3 million (over ₹67 crore). Under the proposed rules, representatives from countries with outstanding dues would be restricted from attending elite sports events. While WADA spokesperson James Fitzgerald has played down the immediate threat of a ban, the proposal remains a significant point of discussion in the international sporting community.
