A devastating tragedy struck Indian pilgrims in Saudi Arabia when a bus carrying Umrah travelers caught fire near Madina. Of the 45 Indian pilgrims who lost their lives, 18 were from a single Hyderabad family, spanning three generations. The family, led by 70-year-old Naseeruddin, had completed their seven-day pilgrimage in Makkah and were on their way to Madina when the accident occurred around 1:30 AM. Among the deceased were nine adults and nine children, leaving their relatives in deep shock. Due to the severity of the burn injuries, many bodies were beyond recognition. Saudi authorities have begun DNA-based identification and confirmed that all victims will be laid to rest in Madina as per Islamic customs.
A special delegation from Telangana, including Minister Azzaruddin and MLA Majid Hussain, flew to Saudi Arabia to coordinate with local officials and support the families. They will remain in Madina until all rituals are completed. Scenes of grief enveloped areas like Tolichowki, Nataraj Nagar, and Jhirra in Hyderabad as relatives struggled to accept the loss. What began as a sacred pilgrimage turned into an unimaginable tragedy for dozens of families.
