Marking the beginning of massive changes in Telangana's public transportation sector, TGSRTC is all set to introduce 2,000 new electric buses. These buses have received official approval under the Central Government's PM e-Drive scheme. The main objective of this project is not only to transform Hyderabad into a pollution-free city but also to reduce the increasing passenger congestion and provide comfortable travel. These buses will be introduced in phases, including low-floor, semi-low-floor, standard AC, and mini electric buses.
Priority will be given to low-floor buses for the convenience of the elderly, children, and persons with disabilities, while mini electric buses will operate in densely populated areas like Hyderabad's Old City. Standard electric buses will also be available on key routes such as Choutuppal–Dilsukhnagar. Using these buses for last-mile connectivity to metro stations will provide even greater convenience for passengers. With the replacement of diesel buses with electric buses, pollution will be reduced, and travel will become more comfortable.
