A new Director General of Police (DGP) is likely to be appointed in Telangana soon. According to reports, the selection process for the state’s top police post has reached its final stage. As part of the process, the state’s Chief Secretary, Ramkrishna Rao, attended the selection committee meeting held in New Delhi.
Sources indicate that the names of C. V. Anand, Shikha Goel, Soumya Mishra and Vinayak Prabhakar Apte are currently under consideration for the DGP post. Out of these four officers, one name will be removed and the Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) will send a final panel of three names to the state government.
The Telangana government will then select one candidate from the three recommended by the UPSC for the DGP position. However, political circles suggest that Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy is reportedly inclined toward C. V. Anand for the role.
