Amid the nationwide gig workers’ strike, companies such as Swiggy, Zomato and Zepto have announced special incentives for delivery agents. These incentives have been increased to ensure uninterrupted operations on the year-end day.
Zomato stated that delivery partners working between 6 PM and 12 midnight on December 31 will be paid ₹120–150 per order, with an opportunity to earn an average of up to ₹3,000 during this period. Swiggy has also rolled out similar offers, stating that workers can earn up to ₹2,000 during peak hours on December 31 and January 1. Zepto is also reported to have increased its incentives.
Following the strike held on December 25, gig workers also participated in another strike on December 31. The agitation has impacted services of platforms such as Swiggy, Zomato, Zepto, and Amazon. Workers are demanding better wages, social security benefits, and the complete withdrawal of the 10-minute delivery model.
