

Singapore police have revealed important details about the death of famous Assamese singer Zubeen Garg, who died under suspicious circumstances in Singapore. They clearly stated that his death was not a murder. According to the police report submitted to the court, Zubeen Garg died after accidentally drowning while he was under the influence of alcohol. He entered the water without wearing a life jacket and could not survive.
Police explained that on the day of the incident, Zubeen Garg had consumed alcohol. He first entered the water wearing a life jacket. Later, he went into the water again without a life jacket to swim. During this time, he struggled to breathe and tried to reach the boat but accidentally drowned. He was immediately taken to a nearby hospital, where doctors confirmed that he had already passed away.
The post-mortem report also confirmed that the cause of death was drowning. Some injuries were found on his body, but police clarified that they happened during CPR and rescue efforts. There was no criminal involvement in his death. Zubeen Garg, a well-known singer from Assam, died on September 19, 2025, during a scuba diving-related activity in Singapore. After his death, doubts were raised and the Assam government ordered an investigation. A SIT was formed, several people were questioned and seven were arrested. Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma had earlier suggested that it could be a murder. However, Singapore police have now officially confirmed that Zubeen Garg’s death was purely accidental.
