President Droupadi Murmu stated that the Indian Navy plays a crucial role not only in safeguarding the nation’s maritime borders but also in ensuring the security of global sea trade routes. She attended the International Fleet Review (IFR), organised by the Indian Navy off the Visakhapatnam coast, where she sailed aboard INS Sumedha and received a ceremonial salute from 71 warships. Governor S. Abdul Nazeer, Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu, Deputy Chief Minister Pawan Kalyan, Union Minister Ram Mohan Naidu, and Navy Chief Admiral Dinesh K. Tripathi were among the dignitaries present during the event.
Addressing naval officers and international delegates, the President emphasised that the IFR reflects unity, trust, and mutual respect among friendly nations. She noted that the presence of naval vessels flying different national flags symbolised global cooperation and shared maritime responsibility. The event, she said, strengthens partnerships between navies and advances India’s “MAHASAGAR” vision of collective maritime security and cooperation. Participation in the Fleet Review further reinforced international relations and demonstrated that nations remain interconnected through the oceans.
