Amid delays in visa appointments due to the new social media vetting policy implemented by the US, leading tech company Google has issued a crucial warning to its employees. Google informed its employees via email that they should not travel outside the US at this time, as doing so would require visa stamping upon return, potentially leading to months of waiting.
Google advised employees on H1B and H4 visas to completely avoid international travel for the time being. It is known that the US began vetting the social media accounts of these visa applicants from December 15th. Google experts stated that this is causing significant delays in appointments.
Google also estimated that this vetting process is likely to affect F, J, and M visas, which are for education and research purposes. Given the increased uncertainty in the visa process, the company advised its foreign employees that it would be best for them to remain within the United States.
