The National Education Day Celebrations – 2025 were held with great enthusiasm at IIAM College, M.V.P. Colony, Visakhapatnam, commemorating the 137th Birth Anniversary of Bharat Ratna Maulana Abul Kalam Azad — India’s first Minister of Education, a visionary freedom fighter, scholar, and one of the principal architects of modern Indian education. The event was presided over by Prof. Pulipati King, Rector, Andhra University, who delivered an inspiring presidential address highlighting Maulana Azad’s lifelong contribution to education, communal harmony, and intellectual freedom. He praised the efforts of the Maulana Abul Kalam Azad Trust (MAKAT) for continuing Azad’s vision of inclusive and quality education for all.

Maulana Azad firmly believed that education was the foundation for a strong and united nation. As India’s first Education Minister (1947–1958), he established several premier national institutions, including the University Grants Commission (UGC), Indian Institutes of Technology (IITs), and expanded the Indian Institute of Science (IISc). His initiatives also led to the creation of the Sahitya Akademi, Lalit Kala Akademi, and Sangeet Natak Akademi, fostering India’s cultural and intellectual growth.
