With Sankranti approaching, the excitement to travel home is high, but train reservation status is leaving passengers disappointed. All regular AC and non-AC trains from Hyderabad to various destinations in Andhra Pradesh are fully booked. Waiting lists have exceeded 250–350 passengers, making bookings difficult. Every year, around 25–30 lakh people travel to their hometowns during Sankranti.
High demand is seen on railways, RTC, and private buses. Even with special trains arranged on routes to Visakhapatnam, Srikakulam, Kakinada, and Tirupati, waiting lists have reached record levels. Railway authorities have yet to add extra trains, forcing passengers to rely on private vehicles, buses, and flights at the last minute. Reaching hometowns during the festive season has become a challenge.
