The handover of land for the Mamunur Airport in Warangal district marks a historic milestone, said Deputy Chief Minister Bhatti Vikramarka Mallu. Addressing a public meeting at Begumpet Airport, he stated that soon after the formation of the people’s government, the required land was acquired and 300 acres were formally handed over to the Union Civil Aviation Ministry. He noted that the Mamunur Airport project, which had been delayed for years due to neglect, has now been revived with decisive action.
Union Civil Aviation Minister Ram Mohan Naidu said Mamunur Airport has a rich historical background and assured that construction would be completed within the next two to two-and-a-half years. The airport will be developed by the Airports Authority of India at an estimated cost of Rs. 850 crore, including a terminal building. He also announced that airport projects in Adilabad and Kothagudem would be taken up once land acquisition is completed. The minister emphasized that airport development boosts regional economic growth and connectivity, and reaffirmed the Centre’s commitment to expanding aviation infrastructure with the cooperation of state governments.
