The Andhra Pradesh government has decided to organize the 2027 Godavari Pushkaralu on a grand scale, similar to the Maha Kumbh Mela. It is estimated that around 8 to 10 crore devotees will take part in the event. Key decisions were made during a cabinet sub-committee meeting chaired by Endowments Minister Anam Ramanarayana Reddy at the Secretariat. Ministers Kandula Durgesh, Satyakumar Yadav, BC Janardhan Reddy, Gottipati Ravikumar, Mandipalli Ramprasad Reddy and senior officials attended the meeting.
The 12-day festival will be held from June 26 to July 7, 2027, across six districts. To ensure convenience for devotees, the committee decided to increase the number of bathing ghats from 234 to 369. The main arrangements will take place in Konaseema, East Godavari, West Godavari, Eluru, Kakinada and Polavaram districts.
The committee also decided to provide affordable tent cities and homestays, along with special focus on sanitation, drinking water and road facilities. Since nearly one crore devotees are expected on peak days, strict security measures will be taken. Special nodal officers will be appointed to coordinate efforts among various departments.
