The Andhra Pradesh Government is once again preparing to recruit teachers through the District Selection Committee (DSC). Officials are currently working on the procedural aspects, and the notification is likely to be released in the first week of February.
According to estimates by the School Education Department, the upcoming DSC notification may cover around 2,500 teacher posts. A large number of teachers are set to retire this year, in addition to the existing vacancies, making fresh recruitment necessary.
During the current academic year, the government scrapped GO 117 and introduced nine new policies. As part of these reforms, 9,200 primary schools were converted into model primary schools, with a policy of appointing one teacher per class. Transfers were carried out accordingly to align with the new system.
After completing this process, the School Education Department identified a requirement for 1,146 additional teachers. To manage the situation temporarily, academic instructors were appointed on a contractual basis. These posts, along with other existing vacancies, are now expected to be included in the upcoming DSC notification.
While current estimates indicate nearly 2,000 vacant teacher posts, officials believe the final count could rise to around 2,500. In view of this, preparations are underway to issue a comprehensive DSC notification to fill all identified vacancies.
