Hyderabad Police Commissioner VC Sajjanar has issued a strong warning against the use of banned Chinese manja ahead of the Sankranti festival. In a tweet posted in a Hyderabadi tone, he urged citizens to avoid using Chinese manja for kite flying, and the message has since gone viral on social media. Referring to the popular saying about Chinese products, Sajjanar clarified that while the phrase may apply elsewhere, it certainly does not apply to Chinese manja, which poses a direct threat to human lives.
Highlighting the severity of the risk, Sajjanar asked people to imagine the consequences if Chinese manja accidentally wraps around a biker’s neck. Calling on the public to ensure that festive joy does not turn into tragedy, he appealed with the message Say No To Chinese Manja. He also warned that selling or using glass-coated manja or nylon strings is a punishable offence, and strict legal action will be taken against violators.
