The Central Government has lifted the price cap on domestic flight tickets that was imposed in December 2025, allowing airlines greater flexibility in determining fares. The revised pricing structure will come into effect from tomorrow, marking a significant shift in the country’s aviation sector. The move is expected to give airlines operational freedom amid fluctuating fuel costs and market demand.
However, passengers are likely to face an increase in airfare prices as carriers adjust fares based on demand and supply dynamics. The Centre has cautioned airlines against arbitrary or excessive fare hikes and has urged them to maintain reasonable pricing. Authorities will continue to monitor fare trends to ensure that consumers are not subjected to unfair pricing practices.
