The Central Government has intensified its efforts to curb terrorism across the country by introducing a new national counter-terrorism strategy titled ‘Prahaar’. Announced by the Ministry of Home Affairs, the initiative aims to strengthen preventive action, rapid response mechanisms, and coordination among security agencies. The government reiterated that terrorism has no religion, nationality, or community, and affirmed India’s commitment to a strict zero-tolerance policy against all forms of violence and extremism.
According to officials, the Prahaar framework focuses on preventing attacks before they occur, improving coordination between central and state agencies, and ensuring strict enforcement of the law while safeguarding human rights. The strategy also addresses emerging high-tech threats, including the use of drones and digital tools in terrorist activities, while promoting global cooperation to combat terrorism. Meanwhile, under Operation Kagar, the Centre continues its nationwide campaign to eliminate Maoist activities, targeting a Maoist-free India before the March 31 deadline.
