Bollywood actor Rajpal Yadav has received support from several film industry personalities after being sentenced to six months in jail in a ₹9 crore cheque bounce case. The actor surrendered before Tihar Jail authorities on the 5th of this month, reportedly in tears, stating that he was unable to repay the dues and that the court had denied his request for more time. The case pertains to a loan taken in 2010 for the production of his film Ata Pata Laapata, which failed at the box office, leaving him in financial distress.
Actor Sonu Sood earlier extended financial support, clarifying that the amount was not charity but an advance payment in respect of Rajpal Yadav’s talent for a future film collaboration. Recently, Inderjeet Singh, head of Gem Tunes Music, also announced financial assistance of ₹1.1 crore and urged other Bollywood celebrities to come forward. He stated that it is the industry’s responsibility to support a colleague during difficult times.
